GOLDMINE review of PAUL COLLINS “Feel The Noise”
One of the last of the class of ’79 who continues to proudly wave the power pop flag, Paul Collins is still down in the trenches, touring across the country and beyond and releasing excellent records such as this one. Collins sounds like a man half his age on Feel the Noise, and his energy and enthusiasm is contagious. (His voice also sounds quite a bit stronger since he’s given up smoking.) Two of the coolest tracks are ones that Collins has unearthed from the past: the outstanding, Nerves-era raver “Little Suzy” and the Collins-Steven Huff co-write “For All Eyes to See.” (Huff was a charter member of The Beat.) – See more here
GLIDE MAGAZINE premieres HANDSOME JACK’s “Between The Lines”
Glide is premiering the new track “Between the Lines” below, which combines the soulful southern rhythmic magic by way of the Alabama Shakes and frontman Jamison Passuite’s fervently emotive vocals. Passuite describes the track as ” it was one of the first tracks we wrote for the new album and we initially played it slower with a ryhthym that was a little more Irma Thomas inspired. Once we picked up the pace, it took on a life of its own. The contrast of the upbeat ryhthym gives it more of a bittersweet feel. Plus, it’s pretty damn catchy.”

Todd had this to say about the video, “My brother and I snuck into a private resort’s mini golf course near Salt Lake City late one night and I let off some steam on the green. It felt like the perfect setting for a ‘More Primitive’ video. This is a song about digging into the inner core of life.”

CLASSIC ROCK EXCLUSIVE: HANDSOME JACK ALBUM STREAM
Forming as teenagers in 2004 as a blues-infused garage-rock band in Lockport, New York, the band developed a more soul-influenced sound after leaving high school, and have supported the likes of The Sheepdogs, Blue Cheer, Gov’t Mule, J. Geils, The Hold Steady and Robert Randolph. After a series of EPs, debut album Supermoon was released in 2011.
New album Do What Comes Naturally also features Bob Nave from the Lemon Pipers, whose bubblegum-psyche classic Green Tambourine reached number one in the US in 1966.
“Everything was recorded live with Zach Gabbard (Buffalo Killers) and Mike Montgomery at Candyland in Cincinnati”, says Passuite. “We locked ourselves in the studio, slept on the floor, and after three days we had something that exceeded all our expectations. We left things in the mix like guitars rattling snare drums and vocals breaking up to keep that live energy flowing out your speakers.”

It’s from the new album Doing What Comes Naturally, which is out in October on Alive Records, who are probably our favourite purveyors of spectacularly coloured vinyl.
