About us :For over thirty years, Alive Naturalsound has been doing its thing—putting out rock, blues, punk, and garage albums that don’t just make noise, but actually hang around in your head. We’ve joined forces with icons like Iggy Pop & James Williamson (through our Bomp Records connection), deep blues legend T-Model Ford, the unpredictable Swamp Dogg, and Aussie rocker Dom Mariani. And we’re not just about the old guard—fresh acts like Gyasi and The Bobby Lees are shaking things up, too. The label is also known for releasing “The Big Come Up,” the debut album by America’s favorite duo The Black Keys. If you’re after music with genuine grit and a whole lot of soul, you’ve come to the right place. Alive keeps things tight: limited releases, and just enough online presence so you know we’re still here. You can snag all our releases at Bomp! Records—because they’re family.
Patrick Boissel, Alive Naturalsound head honcho, didn’t just stumble into the music business—he dove in headfirst. Growing up in France, when the world was still young, he cut his teeth in the indie, punk, and new wave scenes, and later moved to Spain, picking up experience in just about every corner of the industry. Whether it was managing bands, producing albums, hustling in marketing, writing for music mags, spinning records on the radio, handling sales, or even jumping on stage himself, Boissel did it all and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. Along the way, he worked with a wild mix of artists—think Alex Chilton, Kim Fowley, Pete Sinfield, Chris Bailey and plenty more. He even took on the role of French and Spanish rep for Berlin’s Independence Days festivals. Life took a turn in 1992 when he crossed paths with Suzy Shaw from Bomp Records. After the two got married, he packed his bags for Los Angeles and joined the Bomp crew. What started out as a side hustle, Alive Naturalsound, quickly became Boissel’s main gig after Greg Shaw passed away.
