“Arrow Pierce My Heart” is a brilliant record, one that is surprisingly diverse, and whilst it might never be described as “suitable for children’s parties”, the soundtrack to your next sleepless night with your own darkest secrets running through your head never sounded better. – Andy Thorley / READ THE REVIEW HERE

The BIG TAKEOVER premieres The BONNEVILLES “The Electric Company”

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, what better time to share this emerald from Northern Ireland-based duo The Bonnevilles. Don’t be expecting a reel or jig, or Bonoesque bombast; these lads look to Chicago and the Deep South for their muse.

As the story goes, vocalist/guitarist Andrew McGibbon, Jr. was moved to create The Bonnevilles after a brief time in another duo and being heavily inspired by R.L. Burnside‘s album A Ass Pocket Of Whiskey (the Mississippi bluesman’s famed collaboration with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, released on Matador Records in 1996) and bands like The Soledad Brothers and the Immortal Lee County Killers, along with the traditional blues heavyweights Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, and Chess Records. – The BIG TAKEOVER Magazine here

GHETTOBLASTER premieres The BONNEVILLES “No Law In Lurgan”

“This song is about a fictionalized killing. I use the name of my hometown of Lurgan in it, which may not be very wise but it fitted so I went with it. Although the event is fictional, Lurgan still has a bad reputation from the days of the Troubles. In fact, another track on the album is my way of apologizing; the song ‘Eroctica Laguna Lurgana,’ inspired by Jackie Treehorn, is the anti ‘No Law In Lurgan’ portraying it as the sexy place it really is.” – GHETTOBLASTER here

4 headphones ★★★★ review of KING MUD from The FIRE NOTE

ALIVE0177_300pRGB

The debut release from King Mud is raw, muscular and full of distorted hard blues rock that will have you grinding your own air guitar in minutes. The band is no stranger to this sound or record label as King Mud features members of Left Lane Cruiser, The Black Diamond Heavies and Radio Moscow. That puts a little more power behind Victory Motel Sessions as you realize this is not the members first rodeo. The music stands up for itself here as lead track “Rat Time” is a 5 minute gut buster that showcases King Mud’s skills instantly. – Thomas Wilde / The FIRE NOTE HERE
