★★★★★ 5 star review of HEATH GREEN AND THE MAKESHIFTERS from GET READY TO ROCK

Screw the nostalgia-naysayers, Heath Green and the Makeshifters have produced a stunning debut. Oozing respect for the varied sources from which the band has drawn its inspiration, it is delivered with fire-in-the-belly, preach-from-the-pulpit gusto. As the swampers of Muscle Shoals would tell you, there’s something in the water down there in Alabama and whatever it is courses through the veins of this fine band. – Mark “Mad Dog” Shaw / READ THE REVIEW HERE

Can you tell us about yourself? Where you’re from and what you’ve been up to over the past few years?

We’re from Birmingham, Alabama. We are 4 guys that have been playing in different bands, solo, and backing other artists for a while. I had some tunes and these guys are some of my favorite musicians and friends. So, we thought we’d have a go at it, and it ended up coming together so organically that we made a record in 3 days. Alive records picked it up through the help of Lee Bains from The Glory Fires and since then we’ve just been trying to figure out how to get it to the masses so everyone can dig it as much as we do.

Great review of JAMES LEG “Blood On The Keys” from UBER ROCK

The title of James Leg’s third solo album is pretty apt I reckon. I’ve seen the former Black Diamond Heavies dude live and I can vouch that he bleeds and sweats for his craft like it was his last gig before descending from this Earth to the pits of Hell. His brand of high voltage, fuzzed-out garage rock is equal parts Tom Waits, Jim Jones Revue and Howlin’ Wolf… are you interested yet? – READ THE REVIEW HERE

MARK PORKCHOP HOLDER “Let It Slide” gets ★★★★ 4 beers from I94 BAR

You have to try hard to come up with a variation on “Stagger Lee” that people haven’t heard. Porkchop and Co turn it into a primal stomp, with a massive bottom end and nasty, jagged guitars arguing over a mournful blues harp and with Hendrix singing. Heavy and crude, as opposed to most of the rest of the record and a tour de force. A Murderous Ballad indeed.

Get some pork on your fork. That’s all I got to say. – I94 BAR

★★★★ 4 beers for HEATH GREEN AND THE MAKESHIFTERS from I94 BAR

Bluesy-Southern rock meets The Faces.

It’s just a theory so bear with it: As music’s once essential ingredients like passion and energy become even more diluted, those who still want to practice rock and roll as it used to be known will be forced right back into their past. – READ THE REVIEW HERE
