RADIO MOSCOW recording Double Live Gatefold album two nights at The SATELLITE

Radio Moscow is Parker Griggs on guitar and vocals, Anthony Meier on bass and Paul Marrone on drums. The band has five albums out now, all on Alive Records, including their self-titled debut (2007); Brain Cycles (2009); The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz (2011); 3&3 Quarters (2012) and Magical Dirt (2014). They have toured the U.S. and Europe with acts like Graveyard, Witchcraft, Joe Bonamassa, Pentagram and Nebula. They shared the main stage at the Psycho California festival with Kylesa and Earth and performed in Europe at six festivals in July. Following their sold-out Mexico City debut, the band toured the U.S. in the fall with the Sheepdogs.

The band’s first album was recorded with Dan Auerbach (Black Keys). Dave DiMartino at Rolling Stone wrote “…you’ve got to love these guys—the band actively evokes all that was great about hard-rock trios of the ‘60s, the Blue Cheers, the Creams, etc., but does it with such gleeful abandon you’ve got to admire both their spirit and whatever time capsule they rode in on. Great fun.”

Nestled somewhere between Jim Jones Revue and Gallon Drunk with just a hint of Tom Waits and The Fuzztones comes a screaming James Leg. Buckle up bitches this is a journey down a dirty track with nothing but a fistful of Rock and Roll for company, some cheap drugs and a bottle of moonshine. ‘Dirty South’ kicks off the album in fine voice and should be the department for tourism’s theme tune. Hip shaking, foot taping, head swinging rock and roll for sure. RADIO MOSCOW – FULL SET at NASHVILLE SUNDAY NIGHT on 10/25

Nashville Sunday Night is a special presentation of Nashville’s Independent Radio, Lightning 100. Each Sunday night Lightning 100 broadcasts a concert from 3rd and Lindsley, one of Nashville’s finest live music venues. October 25, 2015, featured Radio Moscow opening up for The Sheepdogs.

Radio Moscow are often compared stylistically to blues rock bands from the 1960s and 1970s, particularly fellow power trios like Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Blue Cheer. Reviewing the band’s self-titled album for music website AllMusic, Greg Prato described the group’s sound as “a throwback to the classic rock of the ’70s”, comparing certain songs to artists such as Ram Jam, The Allman Brothers Band and The Jeff Beck Group. Following the release of Brain Cycles, Radio Moscow have also been cited as an example of the stoner rock genre.

As a kid, Brent Rademaker went to see Rock ‘n’ Roll High School with his older brother and found himself staring at the poster, transfixed.

Amid the cartoon mayhem, The Ramones stand front and center, triumphant, like they were in the film, like they were in the minds of kids who grew up on rock ‘n’ roll.

Flash forward 35 years and Rademaker, best known as frontman for the psychedelic country band Beachwood Sparks, found himself with a new band, a new album and on the phone with William Stout, the artist behind that iconic Rock ‘n’ Roll High School poster. Two days after Rademaker had described the band, their personalities and the sound of the new record, Stout sent back the album cover: a runaway train in the California sunshine, carrying the cartoon version of GospelbeacH on their maiden journey.

The playful tone of the artwork perfectly matches the fun-loving rock ‘n’ roll of GospelbeacH, another in a series of fortunate coincidences that led to the band’s debut record, Pacific Surf Line.

“There’s nothing more fun than sitting there listening to a record and staring at the cover and finding little things.
